Lately along with my very high nitrite and nitrate i have noticed my fish scratching on the pot i have in the tank? You think it is a parasite and what should i do.

How new is the tank? What kind of pot do you have in the tank? The scratching could be ich caused by ammonia in the tank due to a new set up going through "new tank syndrome". Nitrite is a bad thing, not that Nitrate is a good thing. I would do a large water change, salt the tank. What kind of fish do you have in there? how many?

I have a 20 gallon that has been up for 11 weeks i have 6 cichlids in it. Its a tera-cotta pot.

basically
change most of the water
and
put in 40 TEAspoons of salt
...Instant Ocean would be best
...kosher salt is fine
...or regular Morton table salt

you might want to swing by the store and get some
clout or quick cure
in addition to the salt
