I have a 40 gallon breeder set up and cycling and was looking to create a North American biotope. I can definitely see Elassoma evergladei finding a place in this set up so I would be interested in some as well. Any suggestions on tank mates? Thinking darters and/or dace.

evergladei are extremely shy

things like darters or anything fast might scare them

Would I need to keep the evergladei in a species only tank?

With a bit more research I think the Blackbanded Sunfish, Enneacanthus chaetodon would be perfect for my set-up. Could I ask for 6ea?

thats what I am planning to do, just the little pygmy sunnies

MIGHT be able to keep them with small blue fin killies, not sure - but I suspect it would make the sunnies hide even more.

I've had them before, they behave like shy dwarf cichlids or Badis
NOT like small cichlids !
