For the first time, 30 different show tanks will be on display, filled with gorgeous oriental fish ranging in size from six inches to more than three feet. It will be like looking at 30 different live water paintings. Kids will be amazed at how friendly these fish can be. Is it possible to see a fish smile? Can you imagine how startling it is to have a three foot fish, patterned with red, black and luminescent white come right to the edge of its show tank and look at you with their brilliant eyes?

What's It All About?

You’ll have to come and find out at the first Tri-State Area ZNA Koi Club event, featuring breeds rarely seen outside of Japan. This free three-day “Pond and Water Garden Show” is open to the public. Throughout the weekend two award-winning judges, Dick Thomas from Lafayette, Indiana and Jim Reilly from Morristown, New Jersey will be evaluating and awarding trophies.

The Tri-State Area ZNA Koi Club delivers all of its programs with a strong educational focus and a welcoming spirit that encourages folks at all interest levels to come see exceptional show fish and to learn more about caring for koi and for their gardens and ponds.

Workshops & Lectures

In addition to seeing spectacularly beautiful oriental fish, there will be workshops of interest to koi hobbyists, as well as to pond owners and gardeners.

“Techniques for Raising Show Fish.” Devin Swanson will share the techniques he learned during his three-year apprenticeship in Japan.
Matt Corino of Sugar Loaf Koi Farm will give a talk on “Key Techniques for Raising Sanke.“ This breed presents some difficult challenges because it involves synching three distinctive colors into a harmonious pattern.
Philip Gray, President of the Tri-State ZNA Koi Show, will lead an interactive workshop for kids on “How to Raise and Care for Healthy Gold Fish in your Family Aquarium.”
Other workshops that will be offered over the course of the weekend show include: “The Critical Techniques for Managing Nutrition” and “Pond Construction”. Check the website listed below for updates on the workshop schedule.
