| Thats my dream tank. Great job TheFishGuy ,love the set up. Just wondering about the stand , thats a lot of weight on that stand without no center supports . Are you worried about the middl e bowing down? Does Ned sell those stands?Is that one or two return pumps in the sump? Thanks for your time TOM A. |

| Hi Tom, I purchase all my tanks and equipment from Ned. It is a standard AGA stand, and designed to hold the weight. I also know a cabinet maker than can make custom stand with your choice of wood, but that tends to get a bit pricey. I also have a furniture refinisher that can color match stands to match existing furniture that you may already have in the room where the tank will go. I have the tank plumbed using just one pump....more is not always better. The more powerful the pump with fewer returns gives much better flow rather than more pumps and more returns. Not to mention how ugly it can get having so much going on under the tank. Glad you liked it. -TheFishGuy www.the-fish-guy.com |

| Thanks for the info on the stand and sump guys. FishGuy , do you drill tanks ? My next big tank I get ,125 gl. or bigger, I think I might go the drill way . What do think of drilled tanks for the sump? TOM A. |

| I do not drill tanks, but some glass companies will do it. If you know ahead of time what you want, it is worth the extra $25 per hole to get it drilled. I am a huge fan of AGA's Megaflow tanks, but it does add extra costs to the tank (well worth it). The built in skimmer box hides all your piping, and makes the tank more of a showpiece. I would definitely recommend a drilled tank over doing hang on the back overflows. You can also hide everything right down to the heater in the sump. There is nothing better than looking at a tank and just seeing what you want to see without the wires of powerheads, and heaters, etc. Below is a tank I did. Unfortunately I don't have the before pictures to show how many wires were all over the place, and the mess from the chiller that had been plumbed outside of the stand. I went as far as putting everything inside the cabinet, including an aquadoser for calcium. Before I replumbed the tank, it was running on 2 power heads inside the tank, a 950 pump, and a 1200 pump. Once I was done, it is running only on the 1200 and I had to valve the pump down a bit because of too much flow. This tank is running a chiller, a U.V sterilizer, a HUGE in sump protein skimmer, and 2 returns So I guess the answer is a big YES for drilled tanks with sumps. | Their is so much junk out there.Wood stands that are too thin,no extra support,nails instead of screws.Alignment problems. I just saw a new wood stand that has a steel frame.I think it was an AGA.It's about time. We still have filters that havn't changed design in 25 years,sloppy seals on tanks,heaters............please. I have numerous magazines from the U.K. They always do comparisons on equipment.It is far superior to most of the stuff here.Sorry for the ranting. Disclaimer.....Ned is a nice man and sells the best equipment available.(honest) Tom L |
