fish guys that are dead

listed in order of how I type them in

sort of automatic writing

Frank, from Pisces, in North Weymouth
sadly commited suicide maybe 2 years ago
after the store closed...
he was much loved by many in the area

John Douglas, from Pisces, in North Weymouth
sadly died
apparently last November 2007
(I only heard of it yesterdayday Jan 25 2008
from a reliable source, RD, of Pisces in North Weymouth, Mass)
...John was also much loved by many in the area

Dick Glenn, founder of Pisces, in North Weymouth
died around 9 years ago of a heart attack
...heard about it from Gene Murphy...
quote from best remembered phone call:
Gene: Dick Glenn had a heart attack
Ned: Oh my God is he okay?
Gene: I don't know...is dead okay?
(Gene is a very funny guy... but don't introduce him to Grandma)

{hope to do a whole similar page on Pisces when Joe Mullin comes back in the spring from Florida}

Al Anderson
cichlid guy from Rhode Island
died a life time ago
knew him from when I was selling fish out of my Mom's house in the 80's
..saw him about a month before he died
skin was gray, eyes were black, very sad
was well thought of by everyone

Kenny Barbato
Malawi peacock MANIAC
bass player, apparently excellent
ran a band called the Clique
(I saw them play at Ray's wedding after Kenny died)
Woonsocket RI
...met him here at Uncle Ned's
eyes bigger than stomach
had about 12 tanks and about 36 varieties of Aulonocara
...tried to convince him for the 6 years I knew him that Aulonocara cross-breed...anyway...
drowned about 11 years ago (my best remembering...)
CANOEing
I always found this suspicious
a bunch of his fishing buddys died the same night in a very shallow pond
...the man grew beautiful cichlids...
...very amusing guy...absolutely enraged about everything
particularly, Jerry Miranda

Jerry Miranda
died about 8 years ago... my best remembering...
I never had a problem with Jerry...
on the other hand I virtually never sold him anything
nor bought anything from him...
Kenny Barbato would do do a 25 minute tirade about the man
(without me mentioning his name)
Jerry was famous for rapidly growing fish
(big time live baby brine shrimp over-feeding)
and breeding new and rare cichlids and cats
[...at some point I have to nail John Kelly down on who paid him the huge bucks for the 1st breeding pair of Syno. Petricola. ...
doesn't sound like somethig Jerry would have done]

funny thing about both Jerry and Kenny
they both convinced their wives the fish collection was worth thousands
(I have this from 1st hand experience with Kenny's widow
and second hand stories from guys who talked to Jerry's widow)

anyway..
I am sure both Jerry and Kenny are in heaven right now
talking with their hands
and arguing in Italian about stuff no one else cares about

Rick Fisette
terrific guy
...sales Rep for Rumford (later Central Pet)
the place where we get fish tanks and tetramin and stuff from...
heart attack WHILE DRIVING (!) about 13 years ago
about 2 days before we were supposed to go golfing

Eric (forgot his last name, sadly)
terrific guy
...phone sales Rep for Royal (still Royal)
...another place where we get fish tanks and tetramin and stuff from...
died horribly and very young
apparently Tay-Sachs disease, about 12 years ago,
...sadly but not surprisingly he was bitter last time I talked to him...
complaining about customers, discounts, and suppliers,
actually he meant I'm sure how unfair it was to be 27 with a wife and 2 kids and be dieing...

I left out, 3 at least, cases
that might hurt survivors feelings
(not that they are likely to read this)
anyway
point is
be nice to everyone
because you never know when is the last time you'll talk to them

next time: I'll try a story on fish guys that are alive !

Although I do my best to avoid making it onto people's lists, that would be a list I'd be happy to be on.
