Their is so much junk out there.Wood stands that are too thin,no extra support, nails instead of screws.Alignment problems. I just saw a new wood stand that has a steel frame.I think it was an AGA.It's about time. We still have filters that havn't changed design in 25 years, sloppy seals on tanks,heat...

I have a 29 gallon tank that has been set up for about 5 years. The tank is heavily planted and pretty much overstocked with community fish.About 3 years ago I noticed pond snails(small, round snails). They must have come in on some live plants. Within a short period of time there were thousands of th...

I looked at those again. If those were left on a bench in downtown Boston, the bomb squad would be called in. Ned-you should be in the Ned complaining section. See you friday night-bringing down fish I need to get rid of- some bread and butter, some good.Taking down a couple tanks. Will call. Alex,seri...

That's no Eheim.I used those filters when I used to mix all my fish together-convicts,neons,goldfish,oscars,barbs,pirahna's in a 20 gallon tank. They are noisy, not very efficent filtration wise or energy wise (good point Ned),plus I wouldn't trust those leaking etc. Buy an Aquaclear that works well ...

my experience is the same as jane's,except that if i see any snails i will introduce loaches to eradicate them.i hate them all. trumpet snails appear to eat plants, however what they eat is older, decayed plant leaves and algae. pond _ (you do not want to introduce these to your tank-ugly and reproduc...

in my experience sae's are the best for eating bba.i have also
witnessed rosy barbs eating bba.the rosy barbs seemed to
constantly pick at it while they were aggresive during
spawning.if you have a male and female rosy barb this is
pretty much all the time.

i read somewhere that they are supposed to be good for
filtering the water.the thing that would worry me is if they
die,you may not know until your ammonia spikes off the
chart.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but in my experience i have
had driftwood submerged in a bucket for weeks and it
still didnt sink on its own.
now,i only buy that hard, malaysian driftwood that sinks like a
rock.
ned has lots of it,reasonably priced.

the only diffrence is tempered is stronger and cant be drilled.i use 7 iron stands.their is no need for plywood because like ned said, just the molding makes contact w/stand.i always use about half inch thick weather stripping on top frame of iron stand. this will help level out any uneveness between...

The story I heard w/the ebo's is that eheim bought them out.
Eheim changed the packaging and it does say they are not
submersible, however the heaters themselves have not
changed a bit.For liability reasons(not sure why),eheim claims
they are not submersible.
