I just wanted to add,you should really have a kit to test your water hardness.Usually a high P.H. means hard water.Obviously not the case w/MWRA water. If you do use chemical(s) to reduce your P.H.,be very careful. Sam is obviously very experienced and has to deal w/many tanks and species including ...

Hi, I don't believe Cambridge water comes from the MWRA.Some of it may.I know your city water mainly comes from a reservoir in Arlington and Fresh pond in Cambridge. The city has a huge Water Plant on Freshpond Pkwy. The few people I know in Cambridge have told me their P.H. comes from the tap at 8.0 ...

Hi Ned, Do you have any left in stock? I would like to buy between 6-10.I'm planning on driving down Thursday.I'm way over-due.I was almost there last week but stopped at Charles River to flip a jig for 10 mins.My 2nd or 3rd cast and I had a nice Bass just under 4lbs.So,it turned into an hour and a ...

I see a lot of Malawi fish posts......... Real cool Malawi shell dweller.Only gets about 2.5"-3" long and is fairly peaceful. The fish has some blue coloration, striping on the body and a nice pattern on caudal fin.Probably would go good w/Yellow Labs. etc. Ned, Have you seen them around(on ...

I think the fish is a Pirara(sp?).Comes from the Amazon in Brazil and gets huge.

Not sure about that horseshoe crab, but if its real I'd rather be swimming with the fish.

Just wanted to add my 2cents about bloodworms.I am also allergic to them.I've read a large percentage of people(30% plus) have some type of allergy to them.Like an idiot,I still use them occasionaly.Last night,I disposed of 2 old freezerburned packs of them. They were the cube type that have to be po...

Hi, I've had a few Tanganyikan tank setups.I also experienced bad brush algae growth in 2 of the 3.The 3rd tank also had some brush algae too.I don't test my water often but the conditions were similiar to yours. The 2 tanks w/wicked brush algae growth were overstocked and overfed which was part of t...

Hey,

Just my 2 cents............It is well worth the trip.Tons of stuff you
will not always see in other shops.
I have not been for a while but have driven from Chelsea(75 mins.)
dozens of times.
I'm sure you will pick up some great ideas from looking at his setups and get good advice.

I still keep a few Corydoras Sterbai in one of my tanks.I never really thought about it much but my fish will be sitting on the bottom and kind of 'nod off' and list to the side once in a while. My fish are healthy and I don't know why they do it.Again, the coming up for air is normal. If the fish is ...

Sorry to beat a dead horse.I was just looking at something else and saw this again.Forgot to mention...................... Make sure you have at least one spawning site w/ a VERTICAL piece of slate(or thin rock). They are similiar to Angelfish,Discus and Uaru and some like to spawn on a vertical surf...

Nice fish and photos.. Here are some things I might try.Apoligize if anything is obvious to you or redundant.Thats a big tank but contains many fish that could make the male nervous and distracted. It works the other way too, establishing and keeping a bond w/your Severums. 1-Ditto on Ned's posts(obv...

My 2 cents............. I assume TC may be tetracycline-another antibiotic. All fish medications usually have a list of what they contain. Many have several different ingrediants to cover a range of infections/parasites.I don't use that brand but if I remember correctly you may have to open up the pac...

I've been keeping fish off and on for a long time and have had dozens of tanks.Mostly fresh, but a couple fish only(23 yrs ago?) saltwater tanks.I've kept most filters and heaters on the market and have wasted a lot of money upgrading lousy ones.I'm still no 'expert' but in my experience I'd spend y...
