We haven't had leaf fish in a long time.
I don't remember them being terribly difficult.
All fish need to eat....
but Leaf fish usually start on live guppys, which is actually a very good rich food, provided that you care for and FEED your FEEDER guppys well.

I have no idea what to put in it. Apistos, rams, tetras, killis, whatever you want. It has the surface almost completely covered with plants, so the light is pretty dim, and a few plants and pieces of roots in it as well. (What special plant light should I get and what fertilizers should I put in? A...

I'm proud to say I didn't vote. I can't stand either one of those guys. When will the stupid Republicans put up a real conservative who will shrink the government? The government _ up 50% of the wealth of the nation. Who wouldn't be doing okay if their income doubled? The other day my Mom said to me...

temperature for Mbuna cichlids

the natural temperature in Lake Malawi is about 78 dgrees F
top to bottom
year round

when cichlids are young I like to keep them at 78
but after about 10 months of age
I often turn the temperature down to 73 degrees F
they tend to fight less when it's cooler

play sand in an African Cichlid Tank this will probably look real cool 2 things to watch out for the play sand will not buffer the pH, so I'd suggest using a small dose of cichlid buffer you want your pH to be above 7.5 but below 9 the other thing is that the cichlids could kick up the fine sand, an...

we sell silica sand called natural gravel in grade zero (a little bigger than play sand) up to grade 7 (about a 1 inch rock) The most popular grades are 2,3, & 4. They all sell for $15 per 50 pound bag. They all need to be washed, 'coz they run dusty. (I usually use Acurel F, or other clarifiers...

When all the fish die overnight in a tank, I usually suspect a poisoning, or a heater malfunction. You said your pH was 8, but was it only 8? Some of the chemicals available for buffering, such as Seachem Tanganyika buffer and Kent Cichlid buffer, can be TOO strong when over-used. I know of one case...
