you may want to research "pod piles" - basically a way to provide more breeding spaces for 'pods: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22pod+piles%22 I collect local seaweeds (mostly Ulva sp. "sea lettuce") for my native marine (coldwater) tank, and I've yet to find much use...

A berlin airlift will barely skim a 10g tank effectively - it certainly will NOT overskim a 29g. and I've never ever heard of overskimming killing fish (nor can I deduce the assumed methodology - over removal of trace elements perhaps ?) Its possible that using a huge $5,000 Deltec skimmer on a 29g ...

my fish - FW and marine - get the Omega One marine flake, veggie flake or kelp flake, First Flake, and Color Flake - I generally have one can of the veggie/kelp flakes and one of the "other" 3 open at any given time, and alternate which flake they get daily (as well as feeding frozen foods...
