Ned,

How big of a tank would I need for a setup like that?
How much $ would it set me back?

Just my $.02: If your tank gets any direct sunlight, go for the kerri. They are stunning in that light and worth it for even a short time each day. Bonus: If you've got a reasonably well-planted tank, you will eventually start seeing a few small kerris. I don't know how the eggs and fry survive, but...

Indirect measurements suggest that the last time the carbon dioxide level was this high was at least three million years ago, during an epoch called the Pliocene. Geological research shows that the climate then was far warmer than today, the world’s ice caps were smaller, and the sea level might ha...

Looking for a way to pump the water from the bucket up into the tank. Any suggestions for a pump (basement pump doesn't look like a good idea). Get the following: Rubbermaid Brute 32-gallon container A pump from Uncle Ned's Tubing to fit the pump outlet (length tbd) A U-shaped filter intake tube wi...

Don't believe everything you read in a chain letter... From: http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/barackobama/a/Obama-One-Percent-Transaction-Tax.htm Analysis: Quite misleading. It's true (as of this writing) that there's a bill in the House of Representatives, the Debt Free America Act (H.R. 1125), whi...

I do and they work wonders!

I have a 10 gal tank with 8 large Amano shrimp. They are a like an algae eating machine. They eat whatever algae I've got - including beard algae. They clean plants, wood, rocks, coconut shells, clay pots, you name it. I feed them nothing but algae.

Hi Ned, I don't know how much heat loss it cuts down on, but in the past I've wrapped my tanks in blankets (and use battery powered air pumps). If you've got any kind of battery backup for your computers, promptly power down the computers and use the battery to power your air pumps. I think a heater...

Any ideas on how to get him to take a real break one of these days? Sam, maybe if you sign up for 7 days in a row with a guarantee that sales for that week will exceed all expectations - I'll let you and Ned decide what that means - then perhaps Ned would take some well-deserved time off. Just my $...

Hi Ned, My rams have spawned in a 10g tank. No other fish in the tank. The fry are big enough to be eating baby brine shrimp. The parents are a bit testy towards each other. The male seems to be the one in charge of the fry. On some days the male is harassing the female. On some days they seem to be...

Hi Ned,

I didn't see Barbus barilioides on your just posted lists. Are these available? You last had them in April - that I know of.

Thanks

Count your blessings the store is not in Central MA because I don't think Allah or NStar would have helped.

Fortunately for me, and more so for my fish, I was able to borrow a generator from a friend.
