Sorry Ned, Snopes busted both of these: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/north.asp http://www.snopes.com/rumors/atta.asp Ollie named a different guy, not Osama. He was worried about the Libyans. At the bottom of the Snopes page is a letter from Ollie (in all caps too, so yell it in your head while you r...

In my experience, BBA tends to cycle through my planted tanks when they are first getting established. It seems like there is some nutrient available that it loves, but then uses up. What I've done in the past is just pick it off of the plants/rocks and whatnot, and eventually it just went away. I a...

I remembered reading something about this a while back on thekrib.com, and it turns out it was easy to find again. Down near the bottom of the page is the discussion about yeast in the tank.

Good luck!

Ned, I'm planning on setting up a 20L tank with a strong current for the Sewellia lineolata I got from you a month or two ago. I was hoping to get some other hillstream-type loaches, and maybe some other fish that enjoy a strong current and cooler (~74) temperatures. Do you have any suggestions? The...

Ned, My corys were about 2 days from being done with quarantine when 2 of them suddenly got sick. The one I managed to photgraph has some weird white growth on its side, and the other has some spiderweb-like thing going on on it's forehead (I think it's the same thing, but it doesn't look raised fro...

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll stop worrying about it then!

A few weeks ago I noticed one of my corys was swimming erratically, and I saw him kind of try to shoot up to the surface for a gulp of air and drift back down upside down. I figured he was a gonner, but he seems to be mostly better. When food falls, he actively roots in the gravel, but when he's jus...

Ned,

Dan and Sam took care of the versa-top (and the vals). Thanks!

Hey Ned, Not sure where this post should go, but I have a whole bunch of tall thin-leaved Valisnera (I'm pretty sure they're Italian Vals) that I'd love to trade in. Interested? I'll probably be in tomorrow afternoon. Also, do you have any twin tube 24" versa-tops in stock? I'd like to bring in...

Ned,

I'd also like:

3 or 4 bags of Eco-complete, and

AG VERSA TOP 24” TWIN TUBE $26

(It's for a different tank, I know it won't fit on the 15).

Do you have this in stock? If not, when can you get it?

Thanks!

Hey Ned! The pair spawned twice since I posted last. The first time I put them in their own 10g when they started defending a corner of the tank, and they raised the fry for about a week after they were free swimming before the parents got a little too hungry and they all "disappeared". Th...

Also, do you carry Flourite? How does it compare to the other two options?

Ned,

How much Laterite would I need?

Which do you recommend, Eco-Complete or the Laterite?

Can I use only Laterite, or do I have to mix it with gravel?

I'll probably come by the weekend of the 8th, but maybe earlier.

Thanks a lot,
Josh

Hey Ned, I am moving to a new apartment at the end of the month, and I figured it'd be a good time to switch from gravel to a better substrate for plants. I was wondering what my different options are, what they cost, and what the difference in performance is. I'd want it for my 45g, and maybe 1 or ...

I've had rosy barbs that cleared up a BBA problem, I think they may nibble on plants too though. I personally recommend SAEs; they are algae eating machines and have never harmed any of my fish or plants.
