I'm in the process of stocking a 38g malawi tank. My first inhabitants are 5 yellow labs (2m, 3f). I'm anticipating total stock numbers to be around 12 or so. I'd really like for the rest of this tank to be primarily solid or striped blue cichlids with maybe a couple of black/white striped coloratio...

I have two clown loaches, two yoyo loaches and several Amano shrimp. Everyone is happily co-existing in my 56G tank. ...As I think about it though, several thousand snails are also happily co-existing too. They cover the plants and driftwood when the lights go off, and burrow in the substrate during...

Thanks for the thoughtful responses.

I have ordered the Milwaukee regulator combo and pH controller, and this weekend built myself an external CO2 reactor based on designs above using PVC and fittings found at Lowes.

I'm looking forward to hooking everything up.

Thanks for your replies. I'm still thinking about this undertaking... I found Co2 tanks at a welding supply outfit in N. Attleboro and Framingham, as well as at a brew supply shop in Marlboro. I guess it depends now which direction I feel like driving. :) They all refill via a swap-out process. Leav...

Hi, I've been reading here and elsewhere online about pressurized CO2 systems for a planted tank. I'm wondering where to go for getting the bits and pieces. I've been doing the DIY yeast CO2 production for a while now, and have tired of that novelty. It is time consuming, messy, and frankly sometime...

Thanks Ned. I picked up some baby tears, glosso and red wendtii from you last week. As warned, the wendtii was a little cold damaged. My pleco and barbs promptly gobbled up the damaged leaves. However, they're ignoring the rest and I think it may be taking hold. I'm left with about six small shoots ...

Excellent. Please post a note here when your shipment is in and I'll be over.

Good call BTW on the ludwigia glandulosa, I like it. Thanks.

Could you also order some Baby Tears and something red (Rotala Magenta maybe?)

Does anyone know of a source of Glossostigma elatinoides (http://www.aquahobby.com/garden/e_glosso.php)?

I'm looking to fill in the foreground of my 65g and I haven't seen this plant in any LFS.

Thanks.

Filter is a Penn-Plax Cascade canister filter - Model 700, I think. I'm not sure that I'm all that thrilled with its filtration capabilities. I will slow down on the feeding and see if water quality improves. I forgot three rainbowfish in my fish tally, but still that only leaves me with 30-odd smal...

I've been struggling lately with the water quality of my 65g tank. Basically, the water is very full of particles that just won't settle or filter out. Things get worse after feeding since the fish stir things up. I do a 15-20% water change about every week and a half including vacuuming substrate. ...
