They are called Convicts. Nigrofasciatum (greek for black stripes ). A central american cichlid. In stock I have a marble variety, and also a more colorful relative called Nanoleutis. You have the original wild striped form and the white form. They are an interesting fish but as you have already fou...

This is normal...
as long as they are not hurting each other
don't worry about it
...but at the first serious sign of one getting injured
you should seperate them

I'd have to see it first...
there's like 200 something tanks in the store,
we sometimes get very busy,
and nobody tells me anything.
I don't think there's one here.

When amazon puffers come in
they are very cheap
but I usually raise the price
to cover the massive ammounts of deads.

Amazon Puffers are freshwater. So are Indian Pea Puffers and most dwarf puffers. (Should have no or very low salt in water, pH 6.5-8.2)

Green spotted puffers & Figure eight puffers
are brackish. (Should be in at least pH 7.2 ...freshwater, brackish, or salt water.)

I've seen sunken stomachs on Mbuna before. Frankly, if it's real bad, and the fish are not particularly rare, I just euthanize them. I suspect it is a non-fatal tape worm. I would at least remove them from the general population. Because the internal worms release eggs which go into the system and c...
