Thanks for the info. That is pretty neat that they disappear into the gravel during the day. Do you find that the fish do eat them? I have seen some info on apple snails too........... They too seem to be from the rift lakes.

Ned, I saw you mention snails as a way to scavenge uneaten food (not too much of that in a Tang tank........) and reduce ammonia buildup. What snails would be compatible with a tang/malawi tank? Do they overtake the tank? I remember getting some snails on plants before and when I blinked there were ...

Ned, I was in today and picked up the Msobo (all of them..... :) )and some other guys. Just wanted to relate to others about the conversion of the quickfilter. I used the black foam that I got, I think it is for a pond filter. Cut one sheet in half. Took the clear plastic core from the quickfilter c...

Just lost 2 little Saulosi to the intake of my power head. I had taken the quickfilter cartridge off and don't you know the next day the water movement was way down. I take off the pump cover and reach in with my finger and out pop 2 very mangled fish. A Saulosi frappe anyone? First mishap so far so...

Hey Ned,

Wondering how long a quickfilter should last. Tank was quite clear and now the powerhead seems less strong. I rinsed the qf in cold water and it didn't seem to help. Running now about 2 weeks I'd say.

Yes I have Moliros. Looks like the algae is starting. I have just a standard light fixture with 2 bulbs. One regular and one a gro-light. I forget the brand, I'll have to check next water change.

Algae is begining to grow in my 75 gallon Tang tank. I know from reading that my trophs will graze on it. Is this true in practice? Do I have to cut thier spirulina flake food to get them to graze? . They are voracious eaters. I feed them about 3 to 6 times a day, just enough for them to eat it all....
